Fatal multi-vehicle crash in Queen Anne

On January 30 at approximately 2:58 p.m. officers responded to a multiple-vehicle collision in the 2800 block of 15th Avenue West. According to witnesses, the suspect was driving his Toyota Highlander northbound on 15th Ave W at a very high rate of speed, cutting in and out of traffic and passing other vehicles using the two-way center turn lane. The suspect struck one vehicle near Armory Way and continued on, failing to stop at the scene of that colllision. The female victim driver in that collision was not injured. The suspect continued northbound at excessively high speeds, continuing to drive in the center turn lane while passing other motorists. The suspect drove into the left lane of southbound traffic and collided head on into a silver Honda CRV occupied by two women, injuring them both. The suspect spun out of control and collided into another woman driving a Mini Cooper, who was not injured. Both women in the Honda CRV were transported to Harborview Medical Center with injuries. The 65-year-old driver of the Honda died as a result of injuries she sustained from the collision. The front seat passenger of the Honda sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The adult male suspect was also transported to Harborview with non-life-threatening injuries, where officers evaluated him for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Traffic Collision Investigation Squad Detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
