Driver slams into SPD patrol vehicle

On February 26th at 11:54 PM, a North Precinct partrol officer was responding to an accident on the Aurora Bridge, which was blocking all of the southbound lanes of travel. As the officer arrived, he attempted to set up traffic control at Aurora Avenue N and N 38th to reroute traffic away from the accident scene.  Moments after the officer exited his patrol car, another driver slammed into the side of  the patrol car causing it to spin 180 degrees.  Thanks to the officer’s cat-like reflexes, he was able to quickly react to the approaching vehicle and jump clear of the smashed vehicle’s paths. The driver was subsequently processed for DUI, cited and released.  The officer was not injured.
