Hit and Run Fatality

On 7/24/09, at about 1222 a.m., officers responded to investigate a body in the roadway on Cherry Street near the intersection of 6th Ave, under the Interstate 5 overpass.  A security guard who was passing by saw the victim in the roadway and called 911. At the time the complainant called us, the victim was obviously deceased.

Officers arrived a few moments later and summoned Seattle Fire Department personnel to the scene. They pronounced the victim dead as soon as they arrived. Officers established a crime scene between 6th and 7th Ave on Cherry Street, closing the street both ways.

Officers canvassed the area. Unfortunately, they could not find anyone at the scene that witnessed the collision.  However, officers  observed a security camera on the east side of the Seattle Metropolitan Tower that might cover the intersection and made contact with the building management.

Traffic Collision Investigators  responded and processed the scene. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and took custody of the unidentified remains.

The investigation continues.
