Serious injury collision in North Seattle

Posted by Media Relations

On February 5th at approximately 6:58 AM, a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by a 61 year old male was travelling northbound in the 11000 Block of 35th Avenue NE.  It sideswiped a parked, unoccupied 1984 Dodge Caravan.  The Explorer continued northbound then veered to the right and struck a parked unoccupied 1997 Chevrolet Blazer.  The impact pushed the Blazer up onto the sidewalk where it struck a tree before coming to rest against a light pole.

The driver was unconscious at the scene and was transported by SFD Medics to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.  Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to the scene and will be responsible for the follow up investigation.  Initially it was believed that alchol may have been a factor, but officers determined that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  The driver may have suffered a medical event prior to the collision.
