Do you have your boater education card?

Free Boater Education Classes now offered by Seattle Police Department Harbor Patrol

GET AHEAD OF THE CLASS!
PASS THE COURSE,
GET THE CARD!

In 2005, a law was passed requiring boat operators to take a boater safety education course in order to operate a boat in Washington State.  The law applies to operators of motorboats with 15 horsepower or greater.  As the program is phased in over the next few years, everyone born after January 1, 1955 will be required to obtain a Boater Education Card.  In 2010, boaters 30 years and younger must have a card.

Members of the Harbor Patrol Unit will be conducting free boater educations classes.  This is a great opportunity to learn boating safety while fulfilling the State requirements.

Classes will be held at the Seattle Police Department Training Center, 2203 Airport Way South, Building C, classroom 1 on the following dates:

  • March 13, 2010   9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • April 3, 2010   9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • April 17, 2010   9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • May 8, 2010   9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • May 22, 2010     9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
