Capitol Hill business robbed, suspect captured

On August 22nd at approximately 7:40 PM, East Precinct officers responded to a call of an armed robbery to a store in the 2100 Block of East Union Street.  Two males entered the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint.  The suspects then fled the store.  An officer was in the area and observed a suspect matching the description running from the store and gave chase.  The suspect ran into a building in the 1800 Block of East Howell Street.  Officers quickly responded and set up containment around the building.  A K9 also responded and tracked from the store to the building on East Howell.  The occupants inside the building were ordered to come out, and eventually two males and one female came out of the building.  The officer was able to recognize the suspect as the one he chased, even though the suspect had changed clothes.  The victim was also able to positively identify the suspect.  Robbery detectives also responded to the scene and assisted with a search warrant of the residence where the suspect was caught.  The second suspect was not located.  The 21 year old suspect was interviewed by detectives and later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.  The Robbery Unit will be responsible for the follow up investigation.
