Vehicle/Pedestrian collision with multiple injuries

On October 28th at approximately 10:53 p.m an adult female driver was traveling southbound on 1st Avenue South in a small pickup truck.  At the intersection with South Massachusetts Street the suspect struck five adult pedestrians (one male and four females) who were crossing 1st Avenue. 

All five pedestrians were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of injuries they sustained in the collision.  One female pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and the other four pedestrians sustained non-life-threatening injuries.  There were two passengers on board the pickup truck in addition to the driver.  None of the occupants of the pickup truck were injured.

Investigating officers evaluated the driver of the pickup truck for signs of impairment due to alcohol and/or drugs.  The driver displayed indicators of impairment and was subsequently placed under arrest.  Upon completion of processing the suspect will be booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Vehicular Assault. 

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
