Woman sexually assaulted and robbed in South Seattle

On December 28th at approximately 5:50 p.m. a 63-year-old woman was walking home from a bus stop in the 1700 block of South Angeline Street.  An unknown adult male suspect came up from behind the victim, covered her mouth and proceeded to punch her repeatedly on the face.  He then threw her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.  The victim fought with the suspect who eventually fled with the victim’s purse containing the victim’s personal items and cash.

Responding officers conducted an extensive area search however, the suspect remains at large.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30’s to 40’s, 5’10” to 6’0”, brown complexion, medium build, clean shaven, wearing a beige or light colored jacket and a beige-colored hat.  (See the above sketch).

It is unknown if this attack is related to any of the other recent attacks.  While a connection is possible there is nothing to indicate a connection at this time.  Sexual Assault Unit detectives are actively investigating.

Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call 911 or the Seattle Police Sexual Assault Unit at (206) 684-5575.  Anonymous tips are welcome.
