Man arrested for attack on officer

On 02-21-2011, at approximatley 9:00 a.m., an officer was on a car prowl report in the area of the market parking garage in the 1500 block of Western Avenue.  The officer on-viewed Pike Place market security officers who saw a person trespassing on the roof of the Pike Place market heritage museum.

The suspect jumped off of the roof and the officer went to contact him. The suspect then punched the officer knocking his glasses off.  The suspect tried to poke at the officers eyes and place the officer in a headlock and choke hold as they went to the ground.

Market Security officers rushed in to assist the officer. A market security Officer was then able to apply pepper spray foam to the suspect’s face. As the officer awaited back-up, the market security officers were able to get one handcuff on the suspect.

Additional officers arrived and assisted in completing the handcuffing. 

The victim officer was transported to Harborview Medical Center,  where he was treated for a bite on his arm and contusions. He returned to full duty after leaving the hospital .

The suspect was treated by Seattle Fire Department medics and later booked into King County Jail for felony assault on an officer.
