Serious assault downtown

On September 10th, at approximately 12:50 am, West Precinct officers responded to a 911 call of an assault in the 200 Block of Pine Street.  At about the same time, a Traffic officer was notified by a citizen of a person down in the street at the same location.  Officers arrived as citizens were pulling the victim out of the street.  All suspects had fled prior to the arrival of officers.  Initial, but unconfirmed,  reports indicate that a Pacific Island or Native American male had punched the male victim in the face, knocking him to the ground where he was rendered unconscious.  The suspect then left the scene.  It also appears that after the victim was unconscious, and before police arrived, some people took advantage of the unconscious victim and stole his wallet, cell phone and shoes.

Officers called for Seattle Fire Medics immediately who responded and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center.  Officers also conducted an area check for suspects, but did not locate any.  Medical staff at HMC informed officers that the victim was stable, although still unconscious at the time of the report.
