Stolen car slams into University District Fire Station

On September 26th, at approximately 3:14 am, North Precinct officers were looking for a Toyota 4Runner that had just been reported stolen by the registered owner.  Officers spotted the vehicle travelling northbound on 11th Avenue NE and attempted to pull the stolen vehicle over at NE 47th Street.  The suspect vehicle refused to stop and fled northbound on 11th Avenue NE.  Three blocks later the vehicle attempted to turn left onto NE 50th Street, but lost control and struck the Seattle Fire Department’s Fire Station 17 on the northwest corner of the intersection.  The vehicle’s occupants, a 28 year old female and a 49 year old male received minor injuries and were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.  Both suspects were later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Auto Theft.  There were no injuries at the Fire Station, but the large front door of the station were damaged.  The Fire Station continues to operate however.

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded and processed the scene.  TCIS will continue to investigate this incident.
