On 11/6/11, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a vehicle traveling eastbound in the 11000 block of Lakeside AV NE, at an apparent high rate of speed (witness claims “seventy miles an hour”) down the hill approaching this intersection apparently failed to realize it was a ‘T’ intersection. The vehicle continued straight through a barricade erected there and down a fairly steep decline before coming to rest on its side between two houses approximately 140’ from the point it left the road.
At least one fence suffered significant damage and at least one tree with a 9” trunk was knocked over. Shortly after the reported collision a bald white male, possibly in his 40s, 5’10 tall, muscular build, wearing a black T-shirt attempted to gain entry to a nearby garage and the car of a local resident coming home. An extensive area check was made but neither the described subject nor anyone else was located.
An impound was called to the scene to remove the vehicle.
