Attempted Arson at South Seattle bank

At around 6:36 a.m., South Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of a suspicous package at a bank in the 7100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way S.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a device in the ATM foyer of the bank, set just underneath an ATM.  Arson Bomb Squad (ABS) detectives were called to the scene and surrounding streets were blocked off.

Further investigation by the ABS detectives revealed that the device was of an incendiary nature and that it had been set but failed to ignite.  ABS detectives collected the device and rendered it safe.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.  Anyone with information is urged to the ABS Office at (206) 684-8980.
