Standoff in North Seattle ends peacefully

On February 10th at approximately 11:04 a.m. officers responded to an apartment in the 11300 block of 8th Avenue NE for the report of a suicidal male with a gun.  Upon arrival on scene officers were unable to gain the cooperation of the 31-year-old male subject who refused to come out of his apartment.  The SWAT team and negotiators were called to the scene.

Negotiators were able to get the subject to surrender peacefully.  He was subsequently transported to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Once the subject was safely detained, officers made entry into the subject’s apartment and confirmed nobody else was present or in danger.  Officers recovered a BB handgun (the person who called 911 believed the BB gun to be a real firearm), two fixed-blade sheath knives and one double-bladed knife.  The weapons were booked into evidence.

There was nobody else inside the apartment during the incident and nobody was injured.
