Officers find burglar hiding inside North Seattle home

On 03-02-12, at approximately 4:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Woodlawn Av N., to investigate a suspect shining a flashlight into parked vehicles.  Initially, arriving officers were unable to locate the suspect, but they then heard a car alarm going off near N. 53rd Street and Greenlake Way N.  As the officers turned the corner from Greenlake onto N 53rd Street, they saw the suspect walking away from a vehicle that had a broken window and its alarm sounding.

The suspect saw the two officers and fled, dropping a backpack.  Officers contained the suspect in the 1600 block of N 54th street as they  heard him running through backyards.  A K-9 unit responded. Officers conducted a yard-by-yard search for the suspect.

The suspect was located inside a home in the nearby area when the homeowner and officers located a window ajar on the south side of the house.  The resident gave officers consent to go into the house, stating that no one should be inside.  Officers went inside the house and saw a subject on the second level.  The officers cleared the house and located the suspect.  He was arrested without incident.  The suspect was later booked into King County Jail for Burglary.
