On 3/2/12, at approximately 2:15 P.M., a female in her home in the 3100 block of Lakewood Ave. S. heard someone knocking at the door. She then saw an unknown male trying to open the rear door.

As officers were enroute the female stated that she heard glass breaking, and she could hear someone inside the house. The female was able to provide a suspect description, and then she hid upstairs.

As officers arrived they observed the suspect outside the house. The suspect saw the officers and fled. He jumped a fence, and ran/fell down an embankment. The officer, not knowing there was an embankment followed. He tumbled past the suspect but was able to take the suspect into custody.

This embankment was approximately 75 feet, and an extremely steep grade filled with vegetation.

The officer was slightly injured in his descent down the embankment. Seattle Fire Personnel responded and treated the officer on scene. He was later transported to an area hospital for minor scrapes, and a tetanus shot.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Burglary.
