Commercial Vehicle Enforcement today

On March 20th officers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Squad inspected nine trucks.  The officers worked the area around Terminal 18 (13th Avenue SW and SW Florida Street). 

Five trucks were placed Out of Service for the following violations:

Unsecured load – 2

Unsecured electrical connection to trailer – 1

Hose on deck, crimped – 1

Tire, sidewall – cordage exposed – 1

The following violations were documented:

1 Stop sign

3 Unsecured load

2 Retro reflective

1 Air leak, brakes

1 Unsecured electrical connection

1 Fail to inspect

2 Air brake hoses dragging

1 Defective windshield

4 Lights, Marker/ID

1 Headlight, inoperable

1 Tire, sidewall cord exposed

3 Tonnage, expired

The documented violations will be forwarded to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and will count as “strikes” against the company, the driver and the carrier.
