Officers Capture Armed Robber 8 Minutes after 911 Call

On March 23rd at approximately 8:30 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call of an armed robbery of a video store in the 10300 block of Aurora Avenue North.  Preliminary investigation indicates that the adult male suspect entered the store and shortly thereafter approached the cashier counter with some store merchandise (a package of ziplock containers).  As the cashier was ringing up the transaction the suspect produced a handgun, pointed it at the cashier and demanded all the cash in the drawer.  The victim cashier complied and the suspect fled the store northbound on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Responding officers located the suspect eight minutes later on the sidewalk in the 10900 block of Aurora Avenue North and took him into custody without further incident.

Officers recovered a handgun and the stolen cash from the suspect.  Two video store employees (the victims) positively identified the suspect as the one who had just robbed them.

Officers then transported the suspect to police headquarters.

Robbery detectives interviewed him and subsequently booked the 27-year-old suspect into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.

This remains an active and on-going robbery investigation.
