Detectives Seize Hundreds Of Off-Menu Pot Plants From South Seattle Restaurant

Narcotics detectives seized hundreds of marijuana plants from a south Seattle restaurant Monday morning after a fire at the business led investigators to a grow operation hidden in the business’s basement.

Around 8am this morning, firefighters staunched a small blaze in the back of the My Canh restaurant near Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. and S. Graham Street. While fire crews were checking the building for fire damage and hotspots, they stumbled upon a large marijuana grow operation in the basement and called SPD.

Police arrived, sealed off the building, and seized 481 pot plants.

 

It appears the business had been illegally diverting power to the grow operation, which may have caused the fire. Detectives found this tangled mass of wires strung together in the basement:
