One man shot; one suspect in custody following Seattle Center shooting

On 5/26/12 at approximately 7:03 p.m., the victim was standing on the north sidewalk in the 400 block of Broad St. just south of the Space Needle valet turnaround.  Just north of the victim’s location (approx. 60 feet), S/2 walked up to S/1 and stated, “you from Yaks”.  S/1 kept on walking away from S/2.  S/1 did not know S/2.  S/1 thought S/2 was asking him if he was from “Yakima”.

Moments later, S/1 was hit over his left eye with a skateboard by S/2.  S/1 pulled out a .22 cal revolver from his pocket and shot the revolver  in the direction of  S/2.  One of the projectiles struck the victim in the right leg (calf area) as he stood waiting to cross Broad St.

S/1 ran towards the Center House and was apprehended by Seattle Police Officers.  The revolver was recovered from S/1.  S/1 and the victim were transported to Harborview Medical Center.  The victim was treated and released.  S/1 was eventually booked into King County Jail for Investigation Of Assault.

S/1 advised he is from the Kent area and is associated with a street gang.
