Seattle Police Asking for Public Assistance in Locating Wanted Prolific Burglar

Seattle Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Shaka Shomari Barquet, a prolific burglar who is wanted for breaking into peoples’ houses at night while they are sleeping.

There is an active felony warrant for Barquet’s arrest and he has been known to carry guns.

Burglary detectives have connected the suspect to at least four residential, occupied nighttime burglaries that have been committed on Capitol Hill, North Seattle and South Seattle (the 2100 block of East Pine Street, the 2500 block of East Galer Street, the 400 block of NE 88th Street and the 1300 block of 14th Avenue South).

Every one of these burglaries was committed while people were at home and sleeping. In some cases there were children in the homes as well.

The suspect has stolen jewelry, purses, cell phones, home electronics, and even stole two guitars in one incident.

Furthermore, the suspect has committed identity theft and fraud, using credit cards stolen during the burglaries.

The suspect has been known to stay in South Seattle, Renton, and Federal Way.

The suspect is a 25 year old black male, 5’10”, 190 lbs, brown eyes and black hair.

The suspect has previously been convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about this suspect or who may know his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately or Seattle Police Burglary Detective Mel Britt at (206) 684-5713 and refer to this case. Anonymous tips are welcome.
