One-Day Community Police Academy

The Seattle Police Department is taking applications for a One-Day Community Police Academy being held on November 3rd, 2012.

The one-day course will provide a brief overview of the job of a Seattle Police Officer and provide Seattle residents with an opportunity to learn firsthand about how the Seattle Police Department works.  Participants will hear presentations on constitutional law, patrol operations & procedures, and the Seattle Police Officers Guild.

The afternoon will be spent at the Seattle Police firearms training range where participants will go through “Shoot/Don’t Shoot” scenarios in the Prism firearms simulator.

Graduates receive a program certificate upon completion of the course. Additionally, they benefit by gaining knowledge and an understanding of the realities and best practices of policing.

Space is limited, so all are encouraged to apply early.  The deadline to submit your application is Wednesday, September 19th, 2012.
