Vehicle/Pedestrian fatality collision in South Seattle

A vehicle struck a 52-year-old man, critically injuring him. On Thursday just shortly before 8:00 p.m., a vehicle was travelling in lane #2 north on MLK Jr Wy S at S. Myrtle St. At the same time, an adult male pedestrian was crossing MLK Jr Wy S at S. Myrtle St. The vehicle struck the man.

Seattle Fire Department responded to the and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The King County Medical Examiner responded and took custody of the pedestrian.

An SPD Drug Recognition Expert Unit evaluated the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, an adult male; No signs of impairment were detected. Traffic Collision Investigators responded and processed the scene.

The investigation continues.
