Police officers were called to a serious one-car collision into a utility pole at approximately 2:45 am on southbound Aurora Avenue North near Comstock Street. Apparently, as the Kia Rio was travelling south on Aurora, it veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole. The adult male driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center by Seattle Fire Department Medics. Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded and processed the scene. That section of Aurora Avenue was shut down during the investigaion, but has since reopened. The Kia was impounded and TCIS detectives will continue to investigate this collision.
