Preliminary investigation indicates that the 18-year-old male driver was heading northbound on 15th Avenue South in his 2003 Honda Accord.  In the 5500 block the driver lost control of his vehicle and collided into the first floor of an occupied house.  The residents were home however, nobody was injured.  There were three passengers on board the Honda, two males and one female, all in their late teens.  None of them were injured in the collision.  They were interviewed and released from the scene.

The driver of the Honda displayed obvious signs of impairment due to drugs.  A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer responded to the scene and evaluated the driver further.

The driver was subsequently arrested and processed for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.  He was transported to Harborview Medical Center where a blood draw was performed.

The driver was released pending further investigation and laboratory results of the blood screen.
