Detectives Apprehend Robbery & Assault Suspect

A man wanted for robbery and assault was arrested on a warrant after appearing in Superior Court downtown today.

On January 3rd at approximately 9:09 p.m. the 31-year-old female victim was at Ludie’s Restaurant & Bar located at 200 Pike Street.  She and the 28-year-old male suspect were both seated in a corner of the bar when a disturbance erupted.  The suspect had been touching the victim in an inappropriate sexual manner.  She was repulsed by his actions.  The suspect then picked her up and body slammed her onto the ground.  The suspect then punched her in the face and in the chest several times before grabbing her purse and leaving the bar.

The bartender and witnesses attempted to intervene, but two unidentified patrons stopped them.  The victim’s purse contained cash and personal belongings.  Responding officers conducted an area search however, the suspect could not be located.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives developed information during the course of their investigation that enabled them to positively identify the suspect and obtain a $250,000.00 robbery and assault warrant for the suspect’s arrest.

On January 15th, Robbery Unit detectives learned that the suspect was scheduled to appear in a Superior Court trial in downtown Seattle.  At 2:00 p.m. detectives responded to King County Superior Court at 516 3rd Avenue and arrested the suspect without incident.

The suspect was transported to the Robbery Office where he was interviewed and subsequently booked into the King County Jail for Robbery, Assault and Indecent Liberties (all felony crimes).

Robbery detectives are handling the active and on-going investigation.
