DOC officer catches fleeing burglar

An early morning foot pursuit ends with a man being arrested for burglary. This morning just shortly after 2:00 a.m., a male suspect entered an apartment building in the 300 block of Cedar St by an unknown manner.  The subject went to a unit and banged and kicked on the door.  The female resident answered the door and the man tried to push his way into the apartment.  The woman and her roommate were able to push the suspect out the door.   He then left the area.

While officers were conducting an area check for the suspect, a DOC officer was flagged down by a security officer at 1918 8 Avenue.  He stated that a man was trying to break into a building via the revolving door.  At about this time the suspect saw the DOC officer and he ran away.

After a brief foot pursuit the suspect was taken into custody at 9 Avenue and Stewart Street.  During the course of this investigation it was determined that this suspect may have been the subject from the Cedar Street burglary.   The victims from the Cedar Street incident responded and positively identified the suspect.  He was later booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Burglary.
