Train/Pedestrian Collision North of Downtown

Officers are actively investigating a train/pedestrian collision that occurred in the area of Elliott Avenue West and West Lee Street.  At approximately 5:19 a.m. officers responded to a 911 call of a train/pedestrian collision.  Preliminary investigation indicates that the train operator brought his train to a halt after realizing that he had struck something.  Upon further inspection an adult male pedestrian was discovered underneath the train lying on the tracks.

Fire department medics responded to the scene and treated the pedestrian. Medics subsequently transported the pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

There is no sidewalk or crossing in the area of the collision.  The events preceeding the collision remain under active investigation.

Seattle Police Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives are responding to the scene to assume control of the investigation.
