Knife-wielding man arrested

A sandwich shop clerk was assaulted by a man armed with a knife. This morning just shortly before 9:00 a.m., the suspect entered the Subway (sandwich shop) in the 100 block of 4th Av N and began throwing items around.

The clerk told the suspect to stop and the suspect began destroying food items.  The clerk called for security and the suspect brandished a knife and then thrust it at the clerk’s arm.  The knife hit the clerk’s arm but did not produce a cut.  The clerk defended himself by punching the suspect.  The suspect then held the knife in a fighting manner and taunted the clerk to fight with him some more.  The clerk ran from the store and waited for security to arrive.

Officers arrived and found the suspect as he attempted to walk away from the store.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident and the clerk positively identified him.  The officers recognized the suspect from a similar disturbance from earlier in the morning at a nearby McDonalds, but without the knife.  During the arrest the suspect spoke of killing people while in custody.
