Shots fired in Columbia City neighborhood

Man arrested in connection to a shoot-out in Columbia City this morning. Just shortly before 11:00 a.m., officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired near the 5200 block of 39 Av S.  Numerous witnesses reported hearing 6 or more shots and then seeing two black males running away from the area. Other witnesses reported that two males fired at a passing vehicle and the occupants of the vehicle returned fire.

Officers arrived in the area and set up containment. After an extensive foot search, officers located one suspect hiding behind a house in the 5000 block of 42 Av S. The suspect was arrested without incident and a handgun recovered from is person. The man was taken to the S. Precinct for processing.  He will be booked into King County Jail for Weapons violations.

The Gang Unit responded and processed the scene.  There were no reported injuries or property damage.
