Man Stabbed in Victor Steinbruck Park, Suspect Arrested

A man in his 30s was seriously wounded in a stabbing in Victor Steinbrueck Park Friday afternoon. Officers arrested the suspect about a half-mile from the scene.

The incident unfolded just before 2:30 pm, when police received a report of two men fighting and throwing glass bottles at each other near Western Ave. and Virginia Street.

Moments later, police received another report that one of the men had been stabbed multiple times.

Medics arrived at the scene and transported the victim, a man in his 30s, to Harborview with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, but officers located and arrested him in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue.

The suspect, a man in his 40’s, was transported to the Homicide Office where he was interviewed by detectives.  Upon completion of that interview the suspect will be booked into the King County Jail for felony assault.

This remains an active and on-going investigation.
