SPD Arson detectives are investigating after a one-block stretch in the University District became the scene of several arson fires and attempted arson fires Friday night.
Just before 7 pm, police and firefighters were called to 55th and Brooklyn Ave after someone started a fire on a porch and on a couch on the street. Neighbors had already extinguished the two small fires before police and firefighters arrived.
At the scene, police also found that someone had set a small fire under a car near 52nd and Brooklyn Ave and had tried to set fire to two other cars.
Detectives believe the fires caused at least $10,000 in damage.
