The 3-year-old victim lives with his parents in an apartment in the 5000 block of 30th Ave NE. On Saturday, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the family was at home when the victim was playing in his bedroom which overlooks NE 50th St.
The victim’s mother was in the kitchen cooking and his father was sleeping (the father works varied shift hours). The victim apparently climbed up on a play table that was even with the base of the window.
At some point it appears the child put pressure on the screen which gave way and he fell out the 3rd floor window, falling almost 25 feet to the concrete sidewalk.
Once the parents realized what happened they called 9-1-1. The child was treated at the scene by SFD then taken to HMC. The child was admitted and taken into surgery with severe life threatening injuries. His status at the time of this posting is unknown.
Homicide detectives were called out. The parents were interviewed and the scene was processed.
