*** UPDATE *** SUSPECT IN CUSTODY ***
The suspect is in custody and has been booked into the King County Jail. At approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning a West Precinct patrol officer located and arrested the suspect near 6th Avenue South and South Dearborn Street in the International District. The 34-year-old suspect was arrested without incident and booked into the King County Jail on a Department of Corrections (DOC) detainer pending further investigation (the suspect was under active supervision by the DOC for a robbery and burglary he committed in 2008).
This remains an active and on-going investigation.

Officers are actively searching for the above-pictured man who sexually assaulted and robbed an elderly woman at knifepoint in the International District early this afternoon.
At approximately 1:57 p.m. officers responded to the report of an assault and robbery that occurred in the 200 block of 6th Avenue South. It was initially reported to 911 that a female victim was strangled, knocked to the ground and her property stolen. It was further reported that the suspect had already left the area. Officers arrived on scene and based on further investigation, it is now known that the victim, a woman in her 80’s, was physically and sexually assaulted and robbed.
It all began this afternoon when the victim was walking in the back door of an apartment complex in the 200 block of 6th Avenue South. The adult male suspect (pictured above) followed the victim inside. Once inside the hallway of the building the suspect punched the victim on the head and body, knocked her to the ground and got on top of her. While holding a knife against her body, the suspect proceeded to sexually assault the victim. He then stole the victim’s money before fleeing the scene on foot.
The suspect was gone upon the arrival of responding officers however, officers and detectives continue to actively search for the suspect.
He is described as an unknown race male approximately six feet tall, 165 pounds with dark hair and last seen wearing a light-colored tank top, black pants, and a large necklace. He was also carrying a black backpack.
The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center where she remains under treatment for her injuries.
Robbery and Sexual Assault Unit detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
The top picture was captured from security video from a strong-arm robbery the suspect committed at the same location on Friday, July 19th. In the July 19th incident the suspect forcefully stole a purse from a female victim inside the apartment building. (The lower image is from today’s incident).
Anyone who may know the identity or whereabouts of the male suspect pictured above is asked to call 911 or Seattle Police immediately and refer to this incident. We ask the public to not attempt to apprehend the suspect but if comfortable, follow or watch him from a safe distance, be a good witness and wait for the arrival of responding officers.
