Armed convicted felon arrested in downtown

Man arrested following fight disturbance in downtown yesterday. On 08/30/13, just shortly after 5:00 p.m., an officer was working off-duty at Ross at 301 Pike St. The officer received reports of a fight disturbance outside the store. He observed the end of what appeared to be a fight between two individuals. The officer went outside and one of the participants advised him that the suspect had pulled a gun on him.

The suspect at this time was walking away from the scene and the officer attempted to stop the suspect with verbal commands but the suspect fled on foot. Additional officers arrived in the area.

Bicycle officers immediately responded to the area.  They observed the suspect running southbound in the 1300 block of 3 Ave. Due to the time of day, this area was heavily congested with commuters waiting for buses.

Officers were able to catch up to the suspect and quickly take him into custody without risk to the heavy pedestrian presence. A loaded pistol was recovered in the suspects front pant pocket.

The victim / fight participant left the scene before officers could contact him.

The suspect is a convicted felon and also had outstanding misdemeanor warrants from King County. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of VUFA-Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act.
