Shots Fired Near Light Rail Leaves One Woman Injured

Officers continue to search for suspects in a shots fired incident near the Light Rail that left one woman injured this evening.

At approximately 5:21 p.m. officers responded to the 7100 block of MLK Jr. Way South for the reports of several shots fired.  Preliminary investigation indicates that two vehicles, a Buick and a black SUV, were stopped in the roadway.  A suspect either on the sidewalk or in another vehicle shot at the Buick and SUV.  Both vehicles fled the scene.  The Buick was recovered unoccupied at 39th Avenue South and South Graham Street with obvious damage caused by gunfire.  It was impounded and taken to the evidence garage for further forensic analysis.  The black SUV and its occupants remain at large.

An adult female victim standing with a small child on the Light Rail platform was grazed by an unknown flying object (it has not yet been determined if the object was broken glass debris, a bullet fragment, a bullet ricochet, or something else).  The woman was treated and released from the scene by fire department medics.  The child was not injured.  Additionally, large glass panels at the Light Rail platform were shot out and shattered.

Officers conducted an extensive area search however, all of the involved subjects from the vehicles remain at large.

Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identity or whereabouts of the suspect(s) is asked to call 911 or Seattle Police and refer to this incident.  Anonymous tips are welcome.

This remains an active and on-going investigation.
