Suspected iphone robber arrested

A man was arrested for an outstanding robbery warrant.  Today, just shortly after 8:00 a.m., the female victim was waiting for the bus in the 8100 block of Rainier Av S.  She was listening to music using headphones and her iPhone 5. The suspect, a male in his 20’s approached on foot and stood nearby.

After several minutes, as the bus was approaching, the suspect grabbed the iPhone/headphones from the victim and ran off on foot towards the East.  Arriving officers interviewed the victim and broadcast the direction of travel and suspect description.

While doing an area check, an officer saw a possible suspect. The officer attempted to detain the man but he fled on foot, jumped over a fence and ran into a large apartment complex. The possible suspect was located and detained.  The victim could not positively identify him as the suspect who took her  property as she did not get a good look at him.

The detained suspect had an outstanding $100,000 warrant for Robbery.(Subject of recent bulletin).  He was interviewed by the South Burglary Detectives and later transported to the Robbery Unit. The suspect was subsequently booked into King County Jail for the Warrant.

 An extensive area search was done and the phone was not located.
