Detectives are following up on an attempted robbery that occurred this afternoon at Renton Avenue South and South Ryan. The male victim was shot once in the knee during an attempted robbery.
At about 12:15 pm, South Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting at that location. The suspect tried to steal the victim’s i Phone. A struggle ensued, and the victim was shot once in the knee cap by the suspect. The suspect then fled. The suspect was described as a black male teenager, 5’8″, short hair, wearing a red sweatshirt. It is possible that he may have left in a black SUV. Officers immediately seached the surrounding area but did not locate the suspect. Seattle Fire treated the victim and then he was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his injury, which is not considered life-threatening. Robbery detectives are interviewing the victim and potential witnesses, and following up on possible suspect information.
