Patrol vehicle stopped for a traffic signal struck by DUI driver. On 2/21/14, just shortly before 11:00 p.m., an officer was stopped at a red light at the end of the off ramp that links northbound 15 Av W to W Dravus St.
Another northbound vehicle drove up the off ramp from 15 Av W and struck the rear of the officers patrol car. The officer’s vehicle was pushed forward and struck the car ahead. Two witnesses, a pedestrian and a driver that followed the suspect, provided audio statements.
A Drug Recognition Officer responded and processed the driver of the at fault vehicle for DUI.
The officer and driver of the third vehicle both felt pain as a result of the collision. They were transported to an area hospital for further evaluation. Both were later released.
