Man drops his gun as he tries to flee from officers

A man a with a significant amount of drugs on his person was arrested this morning.  On 3/25/14, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers were on patrol with a Department of Corrections Officer (DOC) in the area of 3 Ave and Yesler. .

Just shortly after 7:00 a.m., when the officers arrived in the area in the DOC / SPD enforcement van a subject fled on foot. While running, the subject dropped an SKS style 7.62 Semi-Automatic rifle that was strung around his neck. The weapon was loaded and had a round in the chamber. The way that the suspect initially grabbed the weapon appeared to be more likely that it was accidentally dropped and not intentionally dropped.

Officers then quickly took the suspect into custody and recovered approximately 50 rounds of ammunition, some in stripper clips, 34. 8 grams of Heroin, 5.5 grams of Crack Cocaine, 6.2 grams of Methamphetamine,  and 1.6 grams Marijuana.

The suspect also had 1499.00 in US and Canadian Currency. All items were seized and placed into evidence.

The 34-year-old suspect was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act (VUFA) and Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act (VUCSA).
