Man Wounded In Shooting at Rainier and McClellan

One man was wounded in a shooting near Rainier Avenue and S. McClellan Street Tuesday afternoon after a gunman opened fire on a passing car.

Police first received a report of the shooting just before 1:45 PM and officers arrived at the scene in just over two minutes.

Officers spoke with witnesses, who reported seeing a group of two men and two women standing in front of a gas station shortly before one of the men in the group pulled out a gun and started firing at a car as it drove past. The group of suspects then fled the scene.

Minutes after the shooting, a man in his 20s arrived at a medical facility at Rainier Ave. S. and S. Brandon Street with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. Medics then transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center.

Patrol officers and Gang Unit detectives are investigating the incident.
