Woman Wakes To Find Burglar In Home

A woman was sound asleep in her home in the 5000 block of 29 Ave. S. this morning when she awoke to find a person standing in her room.  She reached out and pushed the man who then took off running.

The victim reported that her cell phone and some camera equipment had been stolen.  She described the suspect as a Puerto Rican man, 5’3” to 5’5”, wearing all black.

Officers tracked the cell phone, using its GPS locator, to a home on the 4900 block of Beacon Ave. S. Officers located the stolen camera equipment on the front porch of the home, but did not locate the phone. Officers called the phone and could hear it ringing inside the house. Officers are awaiting approval to serve a search warrant on the home.

While officers were canvasing the area they began to receive reports of a man running through yards with a semi-automatic rifle.  SWAT, K-9, patrol officers swarmed the area and located a semi-automatic rifle but no suspect.

It is unclear if these two incidents are related at this time.
