Man Arrested While Taking Late Night Stroll With Hundreds of Dollars Worth of Stolen Meat

A 50-year-old Seattle man is stewing in the King County Jail after police caught him with a shopping cart full of stolen meat in South Seattle Wednesday night.

Around 11:15 PM, an officer was driving down Rainier Avenue near S. McClellan Street when he spotted a 50-year-old man pushing a shopping cart full of meat down the street.

The rib-eyed eagle-eyed officer pulled up alongside the man and began grilling him about what he was doing with all of that meat in the middle of the night.

The man said he was taking the cart full of steak and ribs to a friend’s house, but a second officer went to the nearby QFC, where staff quickly confirmed the suspect had just left the store without paying for his 13 packages of meat.

Store employees had to discard the $263 worth of meat because it had been removed from the store.

Officers booked the suspect into the King County Jail, where he will undoubtedly face a good ribbing over the incident.
