Man injured in Downtown shooting early Monday

A man standing through the sunroof of a parked Mercedes fired eight to 10 shots at a group of people in the Downtown area early Monday, hitting one man in the foot.

Police were called to the 1500 block of 2nd Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. and found the wounded man, described as in his 20s, lying on the sidewalk. The Seattle Fire Department was called to treat the man, who was later taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

A security guard who witnessed what happened said the victim, and the group he was with, were walking along when they began arguing with the occupants of a parked car. The vehicle was described as a gray or silver Mercedes sedan. The front-seat passenger reportedly stood through the vehicle’s sunroof and opened fire – striking the victim in the foot.

The injured man and the people he was with were hostile to officers at the scene and did not provide information about the suspects or what happened.

The suspect was only described as a black man in his 20s. The Mercedes left the scene immediately after the shooting.
