Officers arrested a robber in the International District this morning after the 29-year-old man tried—and failed—to snatch a man’s phone at a bus stop.
The victim was talking on his cellphone at a bus stop near 11th Avenue and South Jackson Street at about 9:45 AM when the suspect walked up and tried to grab the victim’s phone. When the victim wouldn’t let go of the phone, the suspect punched the man in the face and fled into a nearby greenbelt.
The victim was able to provide officers with a good description of the suspect, and officers soon spotted him emerging from a wooded area near the scene.
Officer arrested the suspect and booked him into the King County Jail on investigation of robbery.
