(Update x 2) One Dead and Two Injured in Belltown Gunfight

Shortly before noon on Saturday, a man called Lynnwood Police to speak with investigators about the overnight shooting in Belltown.

Homicide detectives went to Lynnwood where they transported the man to Seattle Police headquarters for questioning on the incident.

Investigators interviewed the man and homicide detectives believe they have identified the involved parties in the shooting.

Detectives are working closely with prosecutors on this active and ongoing investigation.

Detectives have identified the 20-year old man who died in this morning’s shootings and are notifying his family.

The two men wounded and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries are 19 and 32-years-old.

Officers have discovered, after further investigation, the 21-year-old man arrested while brandishing a gun in public was in possession of a stolen semi-automatic handgun. Officers have submitted the stolen gun as evidence and the man was booked into King County Jail on investigation of possessing a stolen firearm.

Detectives are investigating an early morning shootout in Belltown that left one man dead and sent two others to the hospital.

Officers were on foot and on bikes in the 2100 block of 1st Ave when numerous shots were heard around 1:45 AM. The first officers arrived with fifteen seconds and located a man who had been killed instantly in the gunfight. Police found the dead man surrounded by shell casings and still armed with a gun.

Two other men were injured in the shooting and were taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Detectives are investigating what, if any, involvement the two injured men may have had with the shooting.

Homicide and CSI detectives responded to the scene and will be leading the investigation. There is no suspect information at this time and investigators are still seeking witnesses. If anyone has witnessed the shooting or has information please call the homicide tip line at 206-233-5000.

Officers arrested one man who was brandishing a gun in the immediate vicinity of the shooting. The arrested man is believed to be a friend of the victim who was in the area seeking revenge.
