Man Arrested For Breaking Into Candy Shop On Halloween

Officers arrested a 37-year-old Seattle man Friday night after he broke into a downtown candy factory and stole chocolate on the one night of the year when people traditionally give candy away for free.

Police were called to the shop at 1st Avenue and Yesler Way just before 8:30 PM on Friday after witnesses saw the sweet-toothed suspect smash in the front door of a chocolate shop, which was closed for the evening. The man emerged moments later, carrying two boxes of confections, and fled down a nearby alleyway.

Officers quickly found the man and took him into custody, spilling the suspect’s $22 worth of stolen chocolate on the ground in the process.

Police booked the man into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary.
