Man Arrested After Groping Waterfront Jogger

Seattle police arrested a groper Monday after he ambushed a jogger on the Seattle Waterfront.

A cyclist waved down patrol officers near the 1500 block of Alaskan Way around 10:45 AM and reported that a man had just leapt out from between two parked semi-trucks down the road, and grabbed a woman as she jogged past.

Officers found the jogger, who told police she had already been having a tough day—before she was attacked—and had decided to go out for a run. She told police she was running past Pier 62 when a man jumped into her path and grabbed her.

The jogger helped officers track down the suspect on Pier 62, and when officers approached the suspect he turned around and put his hands behind his back.

At the scene, a witness also told police the same suspect had also stolen a purse from a second woman. Officers were able to track down the robbery victim, but she told officers she had gotten her purse back from the suspect and didn’t want to discuss the incident.

Police arrested the 37-year-old man for assault and booked him into the King County Jail.
