(Update) FOUND – Police Need Your Help to Find Missing Toddler Kevin Szal

Update: Missing toddler has been found in Burien.

Seattle Police are asking for the public’s assistance to find missing toddler Kevin Szal as well as the man who may be caring for him, “Michael Mau”.

Kevin’s mother was receiving treatment at Harborview Medical Center when hospital staff informed her that the toddler couldn’t be in the room with her without additional adult supervision. The mother asked an acquaintance, a man by the name of “Michael Mau”, to take Kevin until other arrangements could be made. This occurred on August 23. The mother has not seen or heard from “Michael” or her son since.

The mother raised concerns with a hospital social worker yesterday and Seattle Police were subsequently alerted. Officers conducted a search for Kevin, but without success.

Police need your help to find “Michael” so that Kevin can be reunited with his mother.

“Michael Mau” is an approximate spelling of a man who is about 28 years old, Samoan, 5’10 and 145 pounds. “Michael” may be living in a tent near SW 136th Street and Ambaum Blvd SW in Burien. Although police have already searched this location, “Michael” may have returned here or be in the general area.

Kevin Szal is a 20 month old boy, last seen wearing red, white and blue plaid shorts and a green and black Puma vest. Kevin is Native American and has short dark hair and dark eyes.

This is an active and ongoing Seattle Police missing persons case. Anyone with information regarding either “Michael Mau” or Kevin Szal’s location is urged to call 911 immediately.
