Murder Parolee Caught With Stolen Gun After He Rams Cop Car In Motel Parking Lot

Officers arrested a violent felon Tuesday after he rammed a police vehicle and fled on foot.

Seattle Police Officers, Department of Corrections (DOC) Specialists, and members of the ATF/SPD Gun Crime Task Force responded to a motel in the 5200 block of 4 Ave S to try and locate the 50-year-old felon. Authorities had learned the man–who is on DOC supervision after serving a prison sentence for Murder in the 1st Degree–had moved into the motel without notifying DOC.

After waiting outside the motel, officers spotted the suspect back his car into a parking spot in the motel’s lot. A DOC van pulled in front of the suspect with their emergency lights activated and ordered him to get out of the car. When the suspect refused, a second police car pulled in front of the man’s vehicle. The suspect suddenly rammed one of the police vans, pinning the door closed and preventing the officer from being able to exit his vehicle. The suspect then jumped out of his car and took off running, but was captured by police after a short foot pursuit. No one was injured in the incident.

Officers searched the man’s car and found a loaded revolver, reportedly stolen in a burglary in North Seattle in September. A search of the man’s hotel room turned up suspected methamphetamine as well.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, and DOC violations.
